--Intro--
The cell.dat is what contains all the dungeon info. When you enter a dungeon for the first time and have to download...that's updating your cell.dat file.
Plenty of times people will have a system crash/format without a backup or end up corrupting their cell.dat. That's what this is for. Also, if you just don't want to download dungeons, this is useful. This is also highly useful for speeding up times for returning players who have alot of dungeons to check out.
--Directions--
- Download the zip file above.
- Unzip this file into your AC directory (Usually C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Asheron's Call)
I would also suggest you rename your old cell.dat something else just in case (like cell.dat.bak)
--Directions to make your own bitmap. Useful for creating your own map in ACExplorer--
- Download cellcracker and unzip the exe into C:\ (anything works, but it's much easier here)
- COPY (not cut) your cell.dat into your C:\ as well.
- Open up a dos prompt (differs by OS -- I know in XP go to Start >> Run >> command)
- If you're not on the C:\ now, move there.
- Now type this exactly as I have it, minus the "s "cellcracker.exe cell.dat map.bmp"
- After a little while you'll be back at C:\ and you should notice a freshly made bitmap!
--Updates--
Update: 11/22/04 Updated for October and part of November. Did not include the Viamontian island yet, as there really is no point. Might update it after this storyline is over. Some of you may know, but this page is now officially against the VN rule for cell.dat and portal.dat cracking. As such, I asked all static links to be removed from the big list of links and anywhere else on the VN. If you post a link to this page, expect a mod edit and maybe a warning as well. Just a heads up. I've also included an excel layout of all the landblocks I'm missing along with their unique ID. If you should come across a dungeon you have to download, simply type /loc and send that to me, and I'll do my best to get it added.
Update: 9/29/04 Updated dungeons for September patch.
Update: 8/15/04 Updated dungeons for August patch. As far as I know I'm only missing Icy Demise.
Update: 7/15/04 Updated this month's dungeons. Missing only the undead portal gem quest. Still missing the previous ones.
Update: 6/27/04 Updated a few dungeons since Turbine is doing the time released thing again. Was able to get Proving Grounds High but still do not have Icy Demise.
Update: 6/17/04 Updated for this month as much as I can get. Notable exceptions include Icy Demise, Proving Grounds high and a TON of unknown dungeons. I've got my ideas on what they are..or rather were, but if you have to download anything let me know and I'll try to get it. Proving Grounds High won't be a problem but Icy Demise might, need to find some 20-39 archers to kill the door for a mule or something :p
Update: 5/21/04 Updated current file slightly. Big thanks to Peerless who gave me his. Also added a few dungeons myself on top of this. One other thing I'll add is the current bmp done with cellcracker to show what is missing. The green squares are missing landblocks. Notice all outdoor landscape is included. The squares remaining in the water are dungeons. As of this update I can't think of what these dungeons are. I have all Liazk dungeons, the updates to both tusker dungeons that had the empyrean heads changed as well as the new PK dungeon. If anyone that uses this has to downlaod something let me know and I'll try to get it.
Update: 3/20/04 I have changed the file to the same file as that downloaded from fileplanet. The reason for doing this was because the full version off fileplanet is well over 300 megs and many people simply only need the cell.dat, not all the other files required to play. If for some..odd reason you would like the original file I still have it saved on my machines. Simply PM me on vault if you want it or are having any problems.
